The paint burns off after the first or second use, and smells horrible. If the wind is above 5MPH it can get frustrating. Other then that, it works great for the price.
use cooker to boil water camping and cook corn and large items. heats up great and into a boil under 8 mins.only issue on first use smell from paint burn off. would suggest to fire it up once before using to burn off smell. very stable base even with large pot on it i feel it would not be an issue.
The Bayou Classis cooker performs as advertised. It will bring a 3 gal pot of water to a boil in app 14 minutes. Burner is well built and sturdy-control is easy to operate.
Great product at fair price. Best of all is the "quick as lightning" shipment: WE GOT IT THE NEXT DAY.
Thanks to Amazon !
I bought this for two reasons:
1) If it's hot out, I'd rather not heat up the house.
2) I can't stand frying indoors. I don't like the odors and I don't want oil/grease in the house. We don't have a big outdoor vented hood in the kitchen. Now I'm able to fry outdoors much of the year.
I use cast iron cookware and with the on/off valve I'm able to regulate the heat quite nicely. I was expecting that this unit was only going to blast out a huge amount of heat. No so.
It's a very simple unit.
It's light-weight and very portable. The propane tank weighs far more that the cooker.
Despite what the instructions say, the big red valve is not adjustable.
The reason why I rated it 5 stars is price per performance. I'm not comparing this unit to more expensive units.
I bought two of these burners for brewing beer. They work well and are solid. Good price. My only problem is that a converted keg doesn't sit nicely on them. No big deal, you can rig up something to support the keg stably. But I might have bought different burners if I had known this in advance.
This cooker does exactly what I wanted and at a very reasonable price. It is very sturdy and yes the paint burns off almost instantly (why even bother with the paint?) but it looks well used, not bad. The cooker really does pump out the BTUs and can boil many gallons of water in a reasonable time. If you are doing food like chili in it, watch out because you can burn the bottom very fast (again, this thing is pretty high BTU).
This is one great cooker,we purchase this cooker over a month ago and we have used it several times without any problems.Durning a family cookout, a family member was so impressed with the performance of this cooker that we purchased one for him. Great Item!!!!!
If you turn the knob far enough, this sucker cranks out so much fire you can boil entire turkey under 10 min.
The only problem is the paint burn off (showing white residue on the side) and the smell.
After that, it is a pleasure to use.
I wish it had a auto-ignite lighter built-in.
If you need something for the outdoor and enough BTU output, this one is the perfect solution with a very good price.
I saw this locally selling anywhere from $40-80.
Got it here without sales tax or shipping.
Great buy.
I am a homebrewer and bought this burner for making beer outdoors. I have a lot of previous experience with propane gas cooking equipment, and this is the best performing burner I have ever used. I will admit, most of my old equipment is pretty dated, but this burner just ROCKS! I have used it 5 times now, and it has cut my brew time considerably, because it puts out so much heat and brings things up to temp very quickly. This burner will really put it out. I like the quality of the flame I get too. Even without monkeying with the air mixture much, it always seems to be a beautifully hot, clean, blue color. It has done well with some light winds as well. I also like how thick the steel is, this thing is solid. I've had no problems whatsoever. I am really happy with this burner, and would recommend it to anyone in need of a propane burner like this, especially at this price. It is a great deal in my opinion. Simple, great quality, easy to use, can't go wrong here.
